The Apurva Chef Program, is a program that was born in early 2019. The program was created by the Bali Culinary Pastry School in collaboration with The Apurva Kempinski Bali whereby every student is carefully selected, trained, coached and mentored by both throughout the program. The have been in total of 65 students enrolled but 23 selected and given the opportunity to join.
As the founder of Bali Culinary Pastry School, Ms. M. Ariani Siswanto,BSc., MSc.(IM), MSc. (REI) embraces the big idea to bring education and training closer to all hospitality industry partners on the island at proactive levels. It has been long traditionally maintained in the relationship between educators and the hospitality players for hospitality schools providing daily workers for the hotels and restaurants in Bali. To be involved in any training school, it is an utterly hard work for everyone.
Not to mention the various creative approach in food production field on top of making sure the basic technical knowledge is first provided as well as reinforcing discipline and consistency. We must take more proactive role in connecting and collaborating to create better learning opportunity for the learners that can only be achieved when working closely with hospitality management. Only a handful understands the importance of getting involved early in training school will provide long term reward.

Mr. Horrison Tompodung as Director of Training and Quality Management said that, The Apurva Chef Program is in line with the dream of The Apurva Kempinski Hotel Bali to create something different by providing learning opportunities to experience training directly. “This program can be our way to get the best graduates. So we could hire them and being one of our important members of our team.”
This was also emphasized by Mr. Vincent Guironnet as General Manager of The Apurva Kempinski Bali. Mr. Vincent Guironnet said that this program had the potential to recruit students with the best talents. “The short time is to help school to develop talent for the future and for long term is to recognize and identify talent so potentially we can hire them”
The Apurva Chef Program students commit to 12 months period, being 6 months in school and 6 months working in The Apurva Kempinski Bali. We collaborate the training immediately from the beginning of the recruitment process to the students’ final projects. Throughout the process both the school and the hotel work together to review learning process, thus maximizing students learning opportunity.
It was truly a blessing for the Apurva Chef Program was successfully created and sustained. The current hospitality climate certainly will give challenges in the short term to keep learning opportunities in the industry remain available. We can be hopeful and have faith in the process that 2021 will be filled with new learning opportunities for the students regardless current limitations.
Learning is a continuous process throughout one’s life, school is not a one stop solution to a success but it is a life time journey. The Apurva Chef Program provides a new unique learning opportunity for anyone who wants to truly develop their skills, especially in Culinary and Pastry Bakery as they to have an immersion program throughout with an accessibility learning opportunity in the Apurva Kempinski Bali. It closes the gap between educator and hospitality player, instead working separately, we work together to create excellent graduates with high standard of working excellence thus increase their productivity in a new world level.
